Melissa Ruiz
Melissa Ruiz, was a visiting scholar from Hermosillo, Sonora, Mexico, who participated in the University of Arizona Latin American Summer Research Program. Melissa was one of 50 students from Brazil, Mexico and Honduras selected to participate, and the first nursing student in the history of the program. A recent graduate of the Universidad de Sonora with her bachelor’s degree in nursing, Melissa is interested in pursuing graduate studies and nursing research after she completes her required year of community service in Mexico. As a bilingual nurse, Melissa offered immeasurable depth and expertise to the NEC-Zero Project in the development and translation of health literature pamphlets into Spanish. She was only here a short period of time but left a big impact and we wish her well.
