Kristina Reber, MD

Kristina Reber, MD, is a neonatologist, medical director and associate division chief at The Ohio State University. Prior to her current duties, she conducted bench science for 10 years to explore and identify pathophysiologic mechanisms of NEC. She is thrilled to be involved with this project because for as much bench research that she did, she was humbled by the fact that through a quality improvement (QI) project they were able to reduce their NEC incidence by two-thirds, “so our NEC incidence went down to a one-third of what it had been by doing some basic quality improvement implementation and process changes.” Through this QI project, they implemented simple and basic standards and were consistent in standardizing their approach. This made a huge difference. Dr. Reber is a true believer in that process and what we are doing.
